The African National Congress (ANC) has called a special meeting of its parliamentary caucus for Wednesday morning.
ANC chief whip Jackson Mthembu has also convened a meeting of parties’ chief whips ahead of the caucus meeting. However, this is nothing to be concerned about as Chief whips routinely meet on a Wednesday.
According to EWN, their meeting has been brought forward to accommodate the meeting of the ANC’s caucus.
Spokesperson in the office of the ANC’s chief whip, Nonceba Mhlauli, has confirmed to EWN that the party’s caucus will have a special meeting at 10am on Wednesday morning.
Mhlauli has told EWN that the agenda for the meeting is confidential.
However, it is understood that ANC Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu has called the meeting in order for the party’s MPs to be briefed on Monday’s marathon sitting of the ANC’s national executive committee.
Mthembu has also informed other parties’ chief whips that their regular meeting of the Chief Whips’ Forum has been brought forward to 8am, presumably to accommodate the caucus meeting.
