The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in KZN believe that the Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma campaign is being sabotaged in the province.
Even though many of the KwaZulu-Natal BGMs were not concluded in time, the province is still the most likely to move the needle at the 54th National Conference of the African National Congress. There is a genuine scramble for votes in the province and the ANCYL believe the game is being rigged.
This despite Dlamini-Zuma getting the most branch nominations in that province thus far, in addition to her number of votes being increased less than 24 hours after the “official results” were announced.
“There is a sustained or a consistent plan to try and undermine the numbers of the ANC in KZN. If we can give an example 20 branches,” Thanduxolo Sabelo, KZN ANC Youth League Secretary, told ENCA on Tuesday.
KZN ANC branches are massive and therefore translates to more delegates ahead of the elective conference. Sabelo beleives the branches with the really big numbers are the ones being excluded from the process.
“So, that’s why we say there’s a plan to try and undermine the numbers in KZN. This seems to be cooked through the elections which has been mandated by the National Executive Committee.”
