The Hawks have confirmed that they conducted an early morning raid on the Saxonworld residence of the controversial Gupta family.

Officers arrived on scene and immediately begun the raid.

Hawks spokesperson confirmed to EWN that it was conducting a raid, but could not divulge on exact details due to the sensitivity of the operation:

“We can confirm that we are having an operation in Saxonwold, at the Gupta family compound, where our members are currently busy. We do not want to divulge more as to what is transpiring there due to the sensitivity of the operation.”

The Gupta family are at the centre of a #StateCapture probe, for their alleged influence over ministers and using that influence to land lucrative contracts from state-owned enterprises.

The State of Capture report revealed that the Saxonwold home was where the Gupta brothers summoned several ministers and other high ranking politicians.
According to various reports, one Gupta brother whom has yet to be named has been arrested along with a close business associate and the rest of the family have reportedly agreed to hand themselves over.
It’s understood that they will be driven to Bloemfontein where they will appear in court tomorrow.
