In case you weren’t aware, Kalahari and Takealot.com last year announced that they would merge, in hopes to make both companies profitable. They will combine infrastructure and storage resources to make the online shopping landscape in SA a more pleasant place for all.
While we have known about this merger for some time, we still had no idea when it would actually take place. The competition commission approved the deal very quickly after the announcement, but for the last 6 months we haven’t received any updates on actual time tables. That is, until now.
Kalahari has announced, in a newsletter to clients, that the move is coming sometime within the next month. At this time, Kalahari will cease to exist. See the letter bellow:
We’ve got exciting news to share with you:
Kalahari and fellow SA e-tailer Takealot are joining together to bring you an even better online shopping experience.
The Kalahari website will close within the next month and moving forward the brand will be known as Takealot.
To make the move as easy as we can for you, we will automatically move your Kalahari account information over to your existing Takealot account.
Your login details for Takealot will remain the same as before and all the existing information in your Takealot account will be unaffected by the move.
