Sources have told The Herald that Panayiotou’s husband had been arrested and would appear in court on Monday May 4.
Earlier on Thursday‚ police said robbery had been ruled out as a motive for the murder and two suspects‚ one aged 31 and the other 28‚ were arrested in connection with the crime.
Christopher is set to appear in court next week Monday where he is expected to be charged with murder and abduction.
In a case that shocked the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro‚ Panayiotou was abducted outside her Kabega Park home last week.
Her body was found near KwaNobuhle Township in Uitenhage the next day.
A funeral service for Panayiotou was held on Tuesday at the Mater Dei Catholic Church in Newton Park – the same day PE police released an identikit of one of the suspects.
Police earlier this week said that several people believed to have knowledge of the abduction and murder of the much-loved Riebeek College teacher had been taken in for questioning following a week-long manhunt.
