Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan will today open criminal cases against EFF leader Julius Malema at the Brooklyn Police Station.
While addressing EFF supporters last week outside the Zondo commission of inquiry, Julius Malema accused Gordhan of enabling state capture.
Malema also claimed Gordhan’s daughter benefited from multimillion-rand tenders from several government departments.
It is understood that Gordhan will lay 3 criminal charges against Malema. The cases are crimen injuria, criminal defamation and incitement to commit violence.
Gordhan is also expected to file a complaint against Malema at the Equality court.
Gordhan’s attorney explained outside the police station that the charges come after months of sustained attacks on the minister.
His attorney stated that the tipping point was on Thursday outside the Zondo commission when Malema called Gordhan corrupt and a “dog of white monopoly capital”.
