SABC recently announced the reappointment of Robert Marawa, and it has now been revealed that the reappointment has cost the broadcaster millions.
Marawa will return to the SABC to host a new show on both Metro FM and Radio 2000.
According to a report by Sunday World, he scored a 3-year contract worth more than R5 million. In the report, it states the contract is effective from 01 June 2018 till 31 May 2021 with a pay of R7 000 per shift.
“Marawa is set to become the second highest sports radio presenter at the SABC with a monthly salary of R154 000. The contract indicates that Marawa is set to earn an annual salary of R1.8 million and, by the end of his contract, he would have earned at least R5.5 million,” the report states.
Marawa now becomes the second highest sports radio presenter with a monthly salary of R154 000, leaving Andile Ncube as the highest sports radio presenter earning a monthly salary of R165 000 from his one-hour sports show.
