Former estate agent, Vicki Momberg who was convicted of racism and sentenced to 2 years in prison, has been granted leave to appeal her sentence by the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
Momberg was convicted by the same court for racism and was sentenced to 2 years in prison following her racist tantrum towards law enforcement officials in 2016 after being allegedly robbed.
According to News24, Momberg has been granted leave to appeal her prison sentence. She is reportedly hoping to have her sentence be overturned, or at the very least, suspended.
Lead prosecutor in the case, Yusuf Baba, confirmed that Momberg’s defence team will meet with the prosecution team to discuss the appeal, and table renewed bail conditions.
Momberg was denied leave to appeal earlier this year, but has got second time lucky and will now be in a position to appeal her sentence.
